Unlock Your Hip Flexors

Many athletes, and martial arts specialists often complain about pain in the upper groin region, where the thighs meet the pelvis. Obese people too experience hip pains. What is the cause for this mysterious pain? Tight hip flexors or psoas muscles as these are usually called, are the root cause of this pain. This muscle in the human body is the only muscle that connects the upper body to the lower body. These muscles control how we move, sit, stand, bend, walk and do all the basic movements that we do in our everyday life. When these muscles tighten up, they cause problems ranging from bad posture to sleeping disorders. Mike Westerdal along with Rick Kaselj, two experts in the field of fitness, claim that it takes just 10 simple movements to loosen them up. Unlock your Hip Flexors is a book which aims to bring out these simple moves to the general public.

How The Book Works

Hip Flexors or Psoas muscles are really hard to reach area. They are buried deep inside your core, hard to reach and even harder to train. Simple static stretching does not help loosen them up. However, ten simple movements done in a particular sequence can help unlock the hip flexors. Some of the movements include:

  • PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching
  • Dynamic Stretching
  • 3-Dimensional Core stability exercises
  • Mobility exercises
  • Fascia Stretching
  • Muscle activation movements

These movements along with others when done in a specific order or a “flow” as Rick Kaselj calls it, can help you reap amazing benefits. The book, Unlock your Hip Flexors, discusses a practical, easy to follow program, which does not take more than 15 minutes of your time every day.

How is this program different from other programs available on Youtube and other sources?

Though there are many other programs available which discuss the exercises mentioned in this program, none follow the correct sequence required to relieve the tension in the hip flexor muscles. Doing the exercises in the wrong order would not be beneficial or worse could be harmful for the muscles.

How long does it take before I start seeing results?

It completely depends on how tensed your hip flexors are. Some people see the change after the first session itself, while others might take 5-6 sessions.

I have had hip replacement surgery. Can I follow these set of exercises?

The answer to this question depends on how long its been since the surgery and how well you have recovered from it. It is better to consult your doctor before starting this program.

My Experience

I started running when I was in school and have been a runner all my life. I always do my pre-run and post-run warm ups and spend enough time to cross train every week. Despite all this I was

never able to reach the level of performance that I always wanted. At the age of 30, I had a muscle tear in my thigh and I was forced to take a break. I resumed running after nearly a year but was disappointed race after race when I failed to even reach my earlier personal best. Then I read “Unlock your Hip Flexors” and decided to give it a shot. I always thought that the problem was the injured thigh muscles but realized that the year-long break had probably tightened up my hip flexors. I followed the regime given in the book for a month and immediately saw a change in my running performance. In last race that I ran, I beat my earlier personal best by a good margin.

Conclusion

This program has been designed by two leading experts in the fitness regime, who know what they are doing. Whether it is an athlete trying to improve performance, or an obese person trying to loose weight or a normal person trying to rid themselves of the pains and aches in their body, everyone can benefit from this book.
