How To Lighten Skin/Whiten Your Skin: 5 Viable, Natural Options
You don’t have to explain your reasons for wanting learn how to lighten your skin to us. Some people just like their own skin tone better when they are less tan and more pale. In some cultures, it’s seen as a sign of higher ranking/caste to have lighter skin (as dark skin is associated with having to work manual jobs in the sun). Even celebrities are know to get procedures done and take cream and pills to get lighter skin, such as we’ve seen with the Beyonce skin lightening. People (women especially) across the globe want to know how to lighten your skin, and it’s certainly not my position or desire to judge. In fact, I want to do just the opposite – I want to help! I’ve compiled a list of the most effective, natural methods that can show you how to whiten skin without any major problems. We’ll talk about skin lightening pills, the best bleaching cream, skin lightening surgery, skin bleaching soap, and more. Making your skin lighter isn’t quite as simple as tanning is, but it’s not particularly difficult, either.
Here are the five main methods you should consider if you want to know how to lighten your skin. Each one is completely legitimate and is used by hundreds of thousands to millions of people worldwide. A few I actually used myself, which helped immensely in my ranking process (naturally). If you want a fairer complexion, read on.
UPDATE: My Top Recommended Skin Lightening Program
Option 1: The Skin Whitening Forever Program
Natural methods are number one for me, which is why I’m calling out this method first. This is a complete ebook guide on all the best natural methods you can use to whiten your skin, and acts as a more permanent and lasting solution than say surgery or repeatedly needing to buy creams. I would start here before trying out anything else personally, as hindsight is 20/20 and this was probably the best purchase for me personally. But ebooks aren’t for everyone! Option 2: Get the best bleaching cream you can
The easiest and most cost-effective way to achieve whiter skin is by applying a bleaching cream 1-3x per day. Most creams are completely ineffective, but if you go with one of the best, you can expect anywhere from minor to major results in the span of a couple months.
Intimate Lightening makes one of the most popular creams on the market today. You can check it out by clicking here. Another alternative is MAKARI – a bit more expensive, but with slightly better customer reviews. These are what seem to be the best of the best bleaching cream as far as reviews on Amazon go.
Users tend to love bleaching creams because they don’t just make your skin lighter – they actually make your skin healthier, too. So not only will you have the complexion you’re after – you’ll have glowing skin that vibrantly radiates your new look. Just make sure you do research to make sure you buy is really the best bleaching cream available.
Option 3: Take some skin lightening pills
Pills are substantially easier to take with consistency. Instead of having to apply cream throughout the day, you can toss the pills in your pocket or purse and set alarms to take them. This is important – missing a treatment (through either pills or applying cream) will set you back.
The downside is that skin lightening pills aren’t as effective overall as skin bleaching creams are. Although many users do see success, you also get the reviews where customers claim the pills did nothing for them. So your chances of successful depigmentation are lower, but the whole process is easier. We’d recommend going with this option if you’re looking for lighter skin, but you don’t want to switch up your whole schedule and routine to get it.
(Some users report an upset stomach when using lightening pills – however, this appears to be due to the fact users are not taking the pills with a meal. Always be sure to take your dose after a meal so your body can digest the pill properly!). Personally, pill popping is one of my least favorite activities, so I can’t offer much personal help to anyone who wants to go this route. But skin lightening pills are still a viable answer to how to whiten skin for many people who don’t mind.
Option 4: Get skin lightening surgery
Skin lightening surgery has the highest success rates of all of the options on this list – by a very wide margin.
There are a few downsides, though:
- It’s expensive – because “lighter skin” isn’t a medical condition, insurance will rarely pay for even a portion of the treatment
- It’s somewhat intrusive – instead of applying a cream or taking a pill, you’re getting surgery in the hospital for a period of 8-10 weeks
- It doesn’t last forever – you’ll have to “touch up” your treatments every couple of years (depending on how your body reacts) to maintain the fair complexion
Like we said, though, skin lightening surgery is by far the most effective option. Consult your regular doctor if this is an option you’re interested in – he will point you to a specialist who can give you specific costs and timeline estimates.
Option 5: Buy skin bleaching soap
Okay, so maybe you just want skin that’s a little lighter. If that sounds like you, it’s worth exploring making the switch from regular soap to skin bleaching soap.
It’s a self-explanatory solution for depigmentation – instead of having to make adjustments to your life to get a fairer complexion, you just use a bar of soap that was built for that specific purpose.
Obviously, using a different type of soap won’t affect your skin as much as creams, pills, or surgery will. But it’s still a viable solution to consider, especially if you’re still on the fence about wanting whiter skin. Try out some soap (such as Kojie San), see if you like your new look, and if you do, upgrade to one of the more intensive options. Skin bleaching soap is one of those things that you can invest in and then never think about again.
Beyonce Skin Lightening
I leave this here as an example of one celebrity, who is known for being quite proud and powerful, showing some signs of having gotten some skin lightening done. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but rather I encourage you to use this as evidence that there’s nothing wrong with trying to lighten your skin if someone tries to call you out on it.
Summary: How To Lighten Skin
- Skin Whitening Forever if you want to use only natural/lasting methods.
- Bleaching creams are the most popular solution, and you can find multiple effective, affordable options online or at your local health store.
- Pills are another option – not quite as effective as creams, but much easier to take.
- Skin lightening surgery is great for people who know they want lighter skin and have the money to spend, but not great for those who are on a budget or don’t want to go to the hospital.
- Finally, special bars of soap can help you get a fairer complexion with steady usage, although the depigmentation results are not as drastic as the other three options on this list.
Remember, this is a judgement-free zone – scroll up, pick the solution that suits your preferences best, and get to work on your fairer complexion. Good luck! Personally I’d give the skin lightening pills, the best bleaching cream, and skin bleaching soap the best chance to work.
