Topics covered: how long cold sores last, how to get rid of cold sores in one day, and how to get rid of a cold sore fast overnight.
Cold sores, also known as fever blisters, are viral infections caused by the virus herpes simplex virus-1. They can be contagious, from the moment they first start showing up (when you feel a slight tingling senstation around the area but no blister is visible yet) until the moment they are completely removed. And worse, they can spread from around the mouth to other places on the face, inside the mouth, the nose, and all over the body (including the genital area). Although genital herpes is most commonly related to herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2), the fact of the matter is that either virus can cause outbreaks anywhere on your body.
And that’s why it becomes an afflicted person’s main goal to quickly get rid of cold sores as fast as possible.
I first started seeing my cold sores pop up when I was almost done with High School. Back then, I thought it was just some sort of genetic thing that had been delayed and blamed it on puberty, although I now know it likely came from one of my less-than-faithful girlfriends at the time. Regardless, I’ve come to understand the nature of cold sores and that even though cold sores and herpes both get a really bad rep most of the time, they are VERY common and generally not a big deal as far as actual pain/discomfort go (if you know how to treat them well). This doesn’t mean that anyone who has them isn’t going to be devoted to curing their cold sores ASAP though.
It’s ambitious, certainly, but lets be honest, most people aren’t trying to figure out what’s the deal with cold sores while their skin is completely clear. I certainly wasn’t. If you’re here, you likely want to know how to get rid of cold sores in one day because you’ve just noticed an outbreak and have something pressing you want to attend without feel self-conscious about people looking at you. Or maybe its your first outbreak and you just want to get rid of them as soon as possible.
It is definitely possible to speed up removal of cold sores, but to expect them gone in a day is a bit of stretch. Possible with luck and/or fast implementation of good treatments, but mostly a stretch. Here are some of the top treatments I’ve tried out personally and seen decent success with:
1. Cold Sore Free Forever. I’m a big fan of this one because it promises that you’ll get rid of your cold sores in as short as 8 hours, and when I personally followed it I got rid of mine after a day and half in the middle of the blister phase (2 days in). It’s also great because it teaches you how to keep your cold sores down in the future as well, effectively acting as a one-time cure for all your future cold sore problems. If you want to read more about the program, visit the official site at http://www.coldsorefreeforever.com .
2. Abreva Cold Sore treatment cream. This is a good one, the only problem I have with it is that it’s not a permanent/never-ending solution. You have to keep buying more and more cream as your cold sores continue to pop up, which means the price stacks up very quickly. It does work, but keep in mind shipping time if you’re looking to figure out how to get rid of a cold sore fast overnight or something. Get it here.
3. Releev 1 Day Cold Sore Symptom Treatment. I don’t actually like this. It’s pricey, but also a cream, which means eventually you’ll run out and need to buy some more. And at $20 a pop that is going to add up extremely quickly. But I know people who swear by it and it does seem to get rid of cold sores in a reasonable time (48-72 hours). So it makes the list but it’s not my favorite choice personally. You can still try it though, it’s possible your results with it will blow mine out of the water. http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/releev-1-day-cold-sore-symptom-treatment/ID=prod399141-product
This is a tricky question, because it depends on many factors. Cold sores actually go through a cycle.
Stage 1. The initial stage of a cold sore outbreak is when you begin to feel the symptoms of a standard cold sore as it begins to form. These symptoms include but are not limited to tightness, tingling, soreness, and itching around the lips. The stage most commonly takes around one to two days to complete.
Stage 2. This is the maturation stage of your cold sore. As the viral infection continues to develop, you’ll notice a clump of blisters forming. These blisters are going to be mostly vibrant red, and fluid filled (and disgusting to boot). Right now, the battle begins. The virus has gathered its forces to attack your bodies cells, and your body isn’t going to take this assault lying down. Inside your blisters there is an actually fight going between the virus and your body’s immune system. This stage normally lasts for 2 days. (So right now you’re anywhere between days 2-4)
Stage 3. Eruption This usually occurs 4 to 5 days into your outbreak. It’s going to be the most painful stage as well. Your blisters are going to be ready to pop, and whether you irritate them or not they may just burst open randomly and cause extreme pain. The newly exposed areas will then start to scab over as your body tries to heal the rupturing.
Stage 4. Scabs – This is where you’ll be dealing with an outbreak of scabs to match your ruptured blisters. They’ll be a bit itchy too, but avoid scratching them because the scabs act as a protective layer as your body does it’s job finally eliminating what remains of the blisters. Unfortunately, even if you do refrain from touching them to the best of your ability, there is still a chance of them randomly cracking open or bleeding. This process usually occurs on days 5-8.
Stage 5. The Dawn. Finally the sun rises once again as your body has managed to wrestle back control from the virus. The scabs will peel off around days 8-10 of your symptoms.
Now, this is the natural cycle that cold sores progress through as from formation to eradication. Is it possible to speed this up with certain treatments and medicines? Absolutely. The list above is what I’ve personally seen good success trying out, but you’re welcome to utilize anything you want.
Once you’ve picked one of those three solutions, here are some other tips you can combine with them to try and see a serious reduction in your cold sores as fast as possible:
If you have vanilla extract, apply it to your blisters to soak them.
Clean the blisters with hydrogen peroxide
Obviously, avoid irritating the blisters by scratching them. Be careful with your toothbrush as well.
Good luck, with all of these methods combined if you’re anything like me you’ll see a serious reduction in your cold sores overnight!
This one is for all the people out there who are like me: relatively young (college aged) and finding themselves unwilling to be held back by their anxiety any longer. For people it’s different, some develop it in childhood or adulthood, while it’s most commonly seen in the puberty years. Mine came about when I was in high school, probably due to a mixture of stress from trying to maintain a high grade average (to get into a good school) and keeping my parents proud of me (academically, behaviorally, and socially). What started as minor performance anxiety began to leak out into various aspects of my life until I began to experience full-blown social anxiety, finding myself unable to deal with ridiculous stress with something as simple as answering the door when the delivery man arrived with my pizza.
My desire in showing people how to deal with anxiety attacks comes from me delving into the disorder myself and trying out various methods and programs to see what works NATURALLY. I’m also willing to answer simpler questions, such as someone curious about it wondering how does anxiety feel. Other information will be covered such as how long can anxiety symptoms last, and if you need to be concerned if they appear to be recurring (spoiler alert, you definitely do.) I was never one to buy into all the “this drug” and “that drug” nonsense, where you have to hope you don’t get barraged with side effects or maybe you know you will so you take these additionally drugs to counteract them and so-on and so-forth. No way, that was NOT for this guy. I’ve tried a lot of the alternative/hollistic methods to deal with my anxiety, such as yoga, meditation, numbered step programs, even iPhone apps.
Below I created a list of what I consider to be the best methods for one to figure out how to calm anxiety quickly – things that I believe anyone can pick up and utilize as they see fit. Enjoy this guide, hopefully you’ll be able to see as much success beating your social anxiety as I was (or maybe even better).
Do you suspect you’re beginning to suffer from anxiety but aren’t quite sure yet? Some people have trouble recognizing whether or not they are having a panic attack, or are unaware of many obvious warning signs that a panic attack is imminent if they don’t make a change as soon as possible. Here are some signs that you are currently dealing with mounting anxiety:
These symptoms are most often triggered by a specific situation or setting. For example, if you suffer from social anxiety you’ll be hit by these symptoms while meeting new people, while being put on the spot, or even while ordering food from a cashier. How does anxiety feel can be answered differently depending on which type of anxiety you have.
Meanwhile, Panic Attacks are more intense. Some symptoms include:
Once a person has identified themselves to be at risk, and knows how does anxiety feel, the next question is exactly how long can anxiety symptoms last and whether or not they will be resolved on their own. And the truth of the matter, although I’m sure many people will be disappointed by the answer, is that it all just depends. You have to identify what is your unique anxiety trigger first of all, and then from there you can run tests to see how exactly it is triggered, how fast it comes up, and how long it takes to go away after you remove yourself from your trigger.
If your trigger is something you commonly have to engage in or interact with, your anxiety symptoms are going to remain until you find a way to fight them or you flat out change your lifestyle in order to no longer have to come in contact with your trigger. If you suffer from social anxiety, this would mean withdrawing from society entirely to avoid you trigger: other people.
The best thing you can do to learn how to calm anxiety quickly is to start by arming yourself with information so you know what your anxiety is and how it comes about. From there, you can begin to fight it in a realistic way (and as we all know, knowing is half the battle).
Once you’ve identified that you are indeed dealing with anxiety, social anxiety or stress induced, and your symptoms show no sign of alleviating themselves, it’s time to take action.
As I said above, the Panic Away system has been phenomenal for me personally when it comes to getting rid of social anxiety. I would advise you to give it a look over at www.panicaway.com if you want a system that will walk you through everything you need to know, step-by-step.
Take up meditation – there are plenty of guides on how to use meditation to deal with anxiety out there but the gist of meditation is pretty simple: get comfortable, close your eyes, and concentrate on your breathing. Do not alter your breathing, simply observe it. As you get better at meditating for longer periods of time, you’re effectively training yourself to shut out all noise you wish to ignore to focus on one specific thing, in these cases it’d be your body and how you’re reacting to your anxiety, what is causing said anxiety, and how to calm anxiety quickly by fixing whatever the current trigger is.
Check your diet and lifestyle. It’s very possible you’re eating foods that are throwing your hormones out of whack and causing your anxiety in the first place. Make sure you’re eating a balanced diet and that you’re getting enough sleep, engaging in enough exercise, and keeping your stress to a minimum.
A quick note: If you’re going to try out the exercise to relieve anxiety and stress, don’t feel pressured to become a total “gym bro” or become obsessed with “maximizing ur gains brah”. The working out is primarily a medication you’re giving yourself to deal with a mental issue, although you can take it more seriously once you’ve seen tangible results that you’re proud of. Don’t be intimidated to enter a gym either, thinking that everyone might be sizing you up or judging you because they are more in-shape than you, or perhaps your form with an exercise is less than up-to-par. No one cares. It’s called personal fitness for a reason! Many people in the gym are far too engrossed in their own problems to worry about judging you, and if they make the time to they are probably losers themselves.
And there you go – this is a comprehensive guide on how to stop anxiety attacks. Hopefully this information was thorough enough for you to be able to beat your anxiety to a pulp without ever having to deal with it returning.
Depending on which methods you decide to adopt for yourself, you may to have keep certain lifestyle changes a part of your life to see lasting results. But don’t let that discourage you, most of the stuff I’ve included is designed to improve your overall quality of life outside of just anxiety in the first place. Yoga? Meditating? This is the kind of stuff people do before they go conquer civilizations (Alexander The Great for one). The path to realizing how to help anxiety attacks can be tough, but overall it’ll make you a stronger person in general.
This post was initially started to just cover depression and diabetes, but we expanded it to also include information on Diabetes and Heart Disease and Diabetes Fatigue.
For whatever reason, studies have proven that their is a link between diabetes and depression, with people suffering from the disease having a greater risk of developing depression.
Unfortunately, these two D’s seem to go hand in hand among people dealing with the disease. Both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetics can immediately feel a loss of motivation after their diagnosis, or even much later down the road as the feeling that they will be dependent on diabetes and insulin medication, such as Metformin, for the rest of their lives begins to draw them into a pit of despair.
Even if a diabetic is perfectly accepting of their initial conditions, it is possible that further complications could worsen their outlook. For example, the development of diabetic neuropathy, which is nerve damage caused by high blood sugar, is permanent and severe enough to take a heavy toll on anyone’s disposition. There’s also a chance you can develop a bad relationship with your actual doctor over the disease, leaving you with a feeling of hopelessness about your treatment options.
– Loss of motivation in doing things you once used to enjoy
– Loss of appetite, especially for foods you’ve already managed to incorporate into your proper diabetic diet
– Trouble concentrating on matters of various seriousness
– Suicidal Thoughts a BIG one. If you’re having these, you need to talk to a therapist or a suicide hotline ASAP.
1. Fight the problem at the source at treat your diabetes. I’ve personally seen good success with this program as far as a well laid out plan to deal with diabetes goes (click here). The pill popping and insulin injections are the bleakest part of diabetes, but following plans like this make it possible for you to eliminate those necessities by following a good diet and exercise.
2. Turn to your friends and family for moral support, or do your own research on how to deal with symptoms of diabetes.
4. Destroy your depression. James Gordon has a pretty well received program that details how exactly one can get rid of their depression naturally, focusing on the use of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to fight off the problems, rather than relying on drugs (which, if your depression was caused by a feeling of futility in needing to take diabetes drugs, is a much needed improvement)
Another “side effect” or “side symptom” of diabetes is heart disease, as the two are very closely related. People with diabetes have blood vessels that are more susceptible to risk factors such as smoking, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
Diabetes and Heart disease may be closely related, but the methods of fighting them go pretty hand-in-hand as well:
– Construct a heart-healthy/diabetes healthy diet.
– Lower your intake of Trans Fat (whether you create a new diet around this lowered intake or just actively cut it down every now and then per meal)
– Find a good workout that can improve your cardiovascular help. Here are 15 Exercise tips for people with Diabetes.
…are two things that absolutely do not go together. Nicotine narrows your blood vessels…and so does diabetes. You can only change whether or not you’re affected by one of those conditions. Drop the cigarettes.
Diabetes Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of diabetes, and occurs primarily due to high AND/OR low blood sugar levels. Meaning the only people dodging this side effect are those skilled or lucky enough to maintain a perfect blood sugar level. This article goes in depth describing exactly what are the main causes of diabetes fatigue, as well as how to recognize them.
– Reach out and look into some recommended steps for diabetes management
– Rethink your goals and ambitions. For example, if you’re dedicated to exercising but can’t dedicate yourself to actually doing it, examine what exactly is happening that’s keeping you from accomplishing your goals.
– Rest. It’s possible you’re not sleeping enough or spending time stressing over things you can’t control. Look into methods to make sure that you’re getting adequate rest and relaxation.
Here’s a new thing we’re going to try at SteamSpoils: Informative posts! Basically, here you can find general information on just about anything, but we will primarily focus on things related to products we’ve reviewed.
What is psoriasis and eczema?
It’s actually surprisingly common for people to be unable to tell the technical difference between psoriasis and eczema, or even atopic dermatitis. All three have one similar symptom: patches of skin that are red and inflamed, and sometimes peeling.
Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune system condition that results in the overproduction of skin cells. These dead skin cells proceed to build up into silvery-white scales, while the skin underneath becomes red, inflamed, and itchy. The white scales are the most recognizable characteristic of psoriasis.
Above is a depiction of plaque psoriasis.
There is no cure for psoriasis, although there are a few psoriasis treatment programs that aim to deal with psoriasis on the body. We reviewed one, the Psoriasis Revolution, and found it unsatisfactory to say the least.
Eczema, also know as atopic dermatitis, also has the ability to be a chronic skin condition. Eczema is caused by a hypersensitive reaction, like an allergy, which causes the skin to react to certain triggers. Triggers can be anything from clothing to dyes on clothing, to soaps, pets, or food. Unfortunately, eczema is very common in infants. Most people prefer to use herbal remedies for eczema as far as eczema in children treatment goes.
Some children with eczema are lucky enough to outgrow their sensitivities as they blossom into adulthood, sometimes becoming immune to their triggers before they even reach adolescence. For those who are not so blessed, they will have common eczema symptoms such as red and inflamed skin, peeling, cracking, blisters, and the presence of pus globules. Not everyone that has eczema have scaly dead skin, but it is possible.
If you’re afraid your child has eczema, look at the above children with eczema pictures to determine if their skin bears any resemblance. If so, it may be time to look into alternative medicine for eczema, like the Eczema Free program (reviewed here). It’s much better than trying to pump your children full of antibiotics, which could cause incredibly harm on their still developing immune systems and hormones.
Eczema and Psoriasis on the body or face will cause extremely irritating skin. However, scratching these areas of the body will lead to the development of even more severe conditions. Breaks in the skin caused from itching either psoriasis or eczema patches will cause breaks in the skin that will cause bleeding and make it easier for infection to enter into the individual’s body. The dryness from naturally having psoriasis and eczema can also lead to cracked skin from movement in general. If the eczema has lead to the development of pus-filled blisters, scratching them can cause the ooze to flow from the pus and create crusty patches on the skin.
Both Eczema and Psoriasis have similarities, but Eczema has the bonus of at least being treatable. This alone makes it important to be able to differentiate between the two.
