I don’t need to go into too many details, but I’ll say that I wasn’t too open to the idea of becoming what I thought would be a “stay at home mom” in the early stages of our relationship.
In fact, for a while there, it was a point of contention between me and my husband for quite a bit. We would get into arguments about it and exchanged many heated words over the idea. I didn’t want to become some retro-housewife.
But eventually, I managed to start finding fun in little things around the house, which opened me up to the idea, until gradually I told my Husband I would do it, so we could save money on day-cares with me taking care of our kids at home myself.
And one of those passions, without a doubt, was COOKING! Frying, baking, glazing, marinating – you name it, I did it. Initially I was just cooking things I knew, and well, there’s not too much excitement to be had there. But once I started actively seeking out new recipes, and making a game of trying to improve my cooking, the passion blossomed.
After a while, I started noticing a new problem. The food I was making was still great, but it was my kitchen tools that were starting disappoint me. I started replacing my knives with sharper sets, investing in better pans and pots, and finally turned my eyes towards my fryer.
The old bucket of bolts wasn’t doing it for me. I needed something better and newer. So I turned to Google :).
Ok, so that’s enough about me and my history, I promise. Now it’s time to talk purely on my thoughts and opinions about this little kitchen tool, the Power AIr Oven Fryer.
So, you’re probably wondering if the Power Air Oven Fryer with Professional Dehydrator worth buying?
It is a lot of money for a kitchen tool after all (especially if you’re on a budget like me). I mean I paid $169.99 USD for it, which in my opinion is a lot of money for anything.
Yeah yeah, but is it worth the money?
There wasn’t many customer reviews other than the ones here on Amazon.com , most of them are positive but there seemed to be a lot of people who received their fryer oven and had some cheap parts somehow.
Other review sites that I looked up gave very little information and just tried to sell it to me, which was a little annoying! I wanted info pages, not sales pages.
FYI – If you start your “review” with a promotional image talking bout “special deals” – I can tell you’re just trying to SELL it to me! Jeez people!
It was hard to find answers to questions I had about it – which is always frustrating. I spent hours doing my research (I always research before buying anything online.)
I found it hard to find simple things like:
How accurate are the preset cooking times? (Most are favorable, but if you like things crispy you’ll want to add 2-4 more minutes of cooking time)
How noisy is it? (the rotating basket is a little noisy but not that bad)
It took me a while just to dig up those answers. I will try and answer more questions you may have below so it’s easier for you, so keep reading…
After reading a few of the Amazon reviews and making sure I had enough room for it on my counter, I decided to buy one from Amazon, since they’re the cheapest price I could find.
2 days later (Amazon Prime + Ordering in the morning) it arrived and I set it up in my kitchen.
I must say that it comes with a manual – but the instructions/buttons are pretty easy to understand. WIthin 5 minutes I was ready to get cooking.
Also, favorably – it doesn’t take up a whole lot of room in your kitchen. A lot less than I expected, even. You can easily slide it into the corner of your counter, or if you have cupboard space, you can even store it in there.
After setting it up, I had a quick go to test it out.
What else could I start with but a household favorite? French Fries!
At first, I didn’t know what to expect, but as one reviewer on Amazon said – all I had to do was load the rotisserie basket with fries and press two buttons. Then it was time to wait.
One thing I will say – the fryer gets VERY hot while it’s cooking. You need to be careful when you take out what you’re cooking, and definitely don’t leave anything on top of or nearby the machine.
As high-tech as it looks, it’s still very much a fryer.
Anyway, a few minutes later the smell of cooking fries filled the air. My kids started making some noise. They were excited, and so was I.
Time to get serious…
I’m more of a visual learner so I watched a Youtube video while waiting for my fries, just so I would get an idea of what sort of foods could be cooked.
Chicken, Fries, Sausages, Bacon – etc. It sort of reminds me of those little food displays you see in movie theatres or carnivals – and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I mean it in a “I’m about to make a decision I’ll have to work off over the next few days” way.
Around 15 minutes later, my fries were done. And I must admit – they came out pretty freaking good. I kept a small portion going (one of my little ones likes tehm crispy) for a few more minutes, then served myself and my two kids.
Everyone enjoyed the meal – my son looked at the machine and asked me if we would be able to start making fries daily.
Haha. Absolutely not – it’s back to vegetables tomorrow.
But still, I must admit the first meal came out very good.
I’d only just started using the Power Air Oven Fryer and it had already made an impression on me and my son (my daughter ate the fries but wasn’t singing praises to the chef unfortunately).
I will say this – the fries, a brand we had been ordering forever, had a different sort of quality to them when they came out. Maybe my old fryer was simply that outdated, but there was a tangible improvement in the taste.

Selecting “chicken” on the oven fryer automatically sets the temperature and puts the time at 40 minutes.
I loved this! The outside of the chicken came out nice and crispy, but the inside was still juicy, rather than being dry. Pretty much everything I expected from a proper recipe.
The top rack turned out MUCH crispier than the other two racks – but all of the chicken was cooked to proper temperature. I think next time I’ll keep in mind that the heat distribution for the oven isn’t perfectly even – which can be a downside for many people.
This was OK – to be honest this was a completely new meal for me, not something that I normally make at all. But I think it came out fine.
Didn’t really blow me away, but I’m not the biggest fan of sausages anyway. Maybe my next recipe will be something I know and want to revamp. Until then…
I am so glad I decided to buy this. So so so happy right now. It truly is an all-in-one cooking tool, easy to use multiple times in one day, and I feel like as long as you’re open to adapting, you’re going to get more than enough mileage out of it. My kids and husband are eating good because of it.
The only regret is not doing this a long time ago…

I pray for the day where we will be able to simply take a pill and repair any issues with memory that we or any of our loved ones have. Unfortunately, it seems that those days are still very far off. These days it seems like you almost can’t get out of the house without hearing the word ketosis. If you’ve ever been on a diet or went to see a nutritionist, then you’re probably a bit more familiar with the term. If not, it might seem like almost a magical word that can solve all your health and weight issues. It’s a word often used by so-called fitness experts in order to hard sell their weight loss programs and diet plans. There’s so much misinformation online it’s no wonder people often dismiss ketosis as just another cheap marketing trick. That’s why we’re here to make things right and tell you everything you’d ever need to know about this strange and fascinating process.
Ketosis is a metabolic process that happens to your body when it runs out of glucose it uses for energy. In its normal state, the body uses a process called glycolysis in order to create energy. Although it is quite a mouthful, glycolysis in itself isn’t a very complicated process. It’s a series of chemical reactions that help convert glucose, the sugar that’s in your blood, into pyruvate. Pyruvates are the simplest of the alfa-keto acids, the acids that are responsible for supplying your cells with oxygen and energy. Although ketosis is most often used as a very effective means of losing weight, it can occur on its own if the person’s normal health has been jeopardized. Ketosis is the most common complication related to diabetes type 1, also known as diabetes mellitus. A person’s inability to produce enough insulin can make its body completely abandon the process of glycolysis, do a complete 180, and switch to ketosis completely. This is sometimes a very dangerous complication as there’s ketosis happening in spite of the high blood sugar associated with diabetes. A person can often dismiss the symptoms (nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain) as they’re commonly viewed as symptoms of many common virus infections.
Ketosis also occurs as a result of targeted diet. It’s the most effective way the body can burn its fat, so it’s often used for weight loss. There are many diets that rely on ketosis in order to work, but the most famous ones are the Atkins and the Paleo diet. While both diets are originally based on viable medical facts, the way they market their health and lifestyle benefits only helps them classify as fad diets. There’s no universal answer to the phenomenon of ketosis, but you can make a pretty good estimate at how long it would take you to reach it by taking into consideration your fitness, body type, and eating habits. When you place yourself somewhere on that two weeks to six-month scale you’ll get quite a good picture of what this journey would look like for you.
Many people associate a keto based diet with being a restrictive method for weight loss. Although it has been proven to help people lose weight, it’s primary goal is to remove all unnecessary fat from the body. It’s not a restrictive diet, meaning that it doesn’t limit the number of calories you intake. Instead, it only limits your carb intake so that the lack of glucose in your blood would lead to ketosis. If you decrease the number of calories, then weight loss will definitely ensue. However, if you switch to a keto diet followed by proper exercise, without decreasing the overall calorie intake, then you’ll go on to lose fat and build muscle without any drastic changes to your weight.
Seeing how it’s easy to sell almost every keto based product, it’s no wonder why people often think it’s an overly complicated and expensive diet program. The diet consists of limiting your intake of carbohydrates found in processed foods, such as wheat and other grains. To reach ketogenesis, you must limit the consumption of both refined and unrefined sugars and carbs. That means no bread, no pastry, no pasta or rice, and no fruit. Removing fruit from your diet saves you from consuming a lot of fructose, which can, if eaten in enough quantities, interfere with ketosis as much as a couple of doughnuts.
Most of the carbs you’d ever need can be obtained from vegetables. The greener and leafier they are – the better. So things like bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, cabbage, and lettuce should make it to your every meal. A breakfast of eggs and bacon, a steak in a buttery sauce with a plate of broccoli for lunch and a tuna salad for dinner is what your meals should look like. Snack on cheeses, nuts, and peanut butter to avoid feeling hungry between meals, and go for a couple of chocolate brownies for dessert.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to cooking in order to maintain ketosis, but if you run out of ideas and need some inspiration, there are a lot of cookbooks and recipes available. There are even entire cook shows dedicated to cooking for a keto-diet, and most of it is free and easily accessible online. And if you still want to go with something a bit more tested out, I suggest buying a copy of the “Ketosis Cookbook”. It has great reviews and it also acts as a kind of an all-encompassing ketosis guide.

I don’t think it will. The only impending danger is that the batteries will eventually get used up and stop working. It will take quite some time for them to do that, but when they do just buy a regular rechargeable lithium polymer battery at the nearest store. It’ll cost a dime and your lantern can keep on working for a long time. Seeing how it’s also completely water and shatterproof, I really don’t see another way it can break.

The only con to the Survival Lantern I was able to find is the fact that everyone will keep bugging you and asking where you got them.
